Baked Inn – All American Bakery
A Taste of Home

Brand strategy for a boutique bakery.

The all-American bakery concept is timeless and appreciated by families everywhere, with Mom-and-pop shops evoking the comforting taste of home.

Baked Inn is the expression of one person’s passion for baking great tasting, wholesome, and authentic American pies, cakes, and sweets exactly as they are supposed to be.

And, because there is no shortage of regional bakeries that leverage this family-style model in the region, Baked Inn required a unique brand strategy that would place it a cut above the rest.

This client tasked Ninth Space with developing this brand strategy and identity – including the retail design – with a focus on diversifying this concept from competing bakeshops and patisseries.

An inspiring brand identity that tells an authentic story.

The owner of Baked Inn nurtures her business with a love for cooking that stems from a lifelong celebration of her family’s heritage. We leveraged this passion for traditional American baking to define the brand vision.

We focused on two core emotional values that anchored the strategy: a sense of nostalgia, as well as the genuine taste of American pies, ensuring that the visual identity appealed to both more discerning guests as well as familial audiences.

These core values were visualised in the proposed logotype, symbol, and brand essence, incorporating a stylised heart, a nod to fresh baking, and flavour, all displayed in a clean and sophisticated manner that appeals to the target demographic.

Bringing a genuine all-American bakery to life through a thoughtful design style.

To achieve the perfect balance of urban style and a traditional sense of place, our retail design detailed booth and banquette seating, reclaimed timber furniture, and an organic colour palette.

The walls were adorned with vintage cooking tins, retro American baking paraphernalia, and posters to supplement the traditional feel. Oiled oak flooring and wall panelling completed the traditional style and created a naturalness and quality to the materiality.

We modelled the renderings as a slice of the sweetest country in the big city. Quaint but not kitsch, the environment was a combination of a classic American diner and rustic kitchen in a metropolitan setting.
