When Ninth Space was asked to rebrand Barr Al Jissah, the challenge was that none of the above fascinating facts were ever successfully communicated to nor experienced by visitors, guests, and residents. The destination’s thoughtful origins were overshadowed by the highly successful hotel, and the villas, townhomes, and marina were considered as simple add-ons, leaving Barr Al Jissah’s rich origins forgotten.
These physical and emotional assets of the destination were highly under-estimated and undersold. The Barr Al Jissah management team knew this, and wanted to turn the situation on its head in order to capitalise on the destination’s true value.
We weaved and nurtured these stories into the fabric of the brand. The promise of “A Place Forever” works on all levels, from homeownership and uninterrupted views across the sea, to the natural permanence of the setting and a deep history of human activity.
Engaging the true nature of a place
The brand development work focused on connecting audiences with the nature of the place. In essence, this meant everything that was developed ensured a closer connection to the environment and its history.
We recommended the real estate assets be refurbished to allow a more direct connection with the sea and the horizon, interior walls and barriers to the views were removed to enable seamless vistas, and the townhomes on the foothills were redesigned by yacht builders as a contemporary embodiment of Barr Al Jissah’s seafaring heritage.
The branding was reduced to a minimalistic approach, with beautiful photography and film being introduced to celebrate the beauty of the environment. The focus shifted to an incredible backdrop of grand mountains meeting the endless ocean set within expansive cerulean skies.
Capturing ultimate value
The result of our work was instrumental in enabling the owners to leverage the true value of their investments and assets. Currently, Barr Al Jissah commands 20% above market value.
This value is realised through a combination of factors that integrate to provide homeowners with seamless, comprehensive concierge and lifestyle benefits that all add up to high emotional value and that instil a deep sense of belonging.
